The Lomond & Clyde Tourist Association
Lomond and Clyde Tourist Association
Formed in 1984 as the West Dumbarton Tourist Association, LCTA is a voluntary local trade organisation representing tourism businesses within the West Dumbarton and Lomond and Clyde areas. Our constitution states that all tourism businesses within these areas who are Quality Assured clients of Visit Scotland are automatically members of LCTA and we regularly circulate our minutes to this group of operators. Membership is also open to any other individuals in the area who have an interest in tourism.
Office bearers:
Chairman: John Urquhart (Balmillig B&B and Lomond Guides, Helensburgh)
Vice Chairman: Donald MacPhail (Tigh Mo Graidh, Balloch)
Secretary: Anne Urquhart (Balmillig B&B and Lomond Guide, Helensburgh s)
Treasurer: John King (Helensburgh)
Minute Secretary Ishbel Jackson (Sinclair House B&B, Helensburgh)
Representation on other bodies:
John Urquhart represents LCTA on this area’s ‘Area Tourism Partnership’, a body which was created in 2006 following the Government’s decision to break up the old local area Tourist Boards. The ATP, which meets quarterly, has a membership consisting of local government councillors and officials, representatives of agencies such as Scottish Enterprise, local tourism trade representatives and other individuals who are judged to have an important part to play in delivering the tourism product in our area.
Issues recently considered at LCTA’s regular monthly meetings have included:
The upgrading of signage and print relating to the Clyde Sea Lochs Trail
The role and effectiveness of the newly created Area Tourism Partnership
The development of the new “Three Lochs Way” recreational route being promoted by Helensburgh and District Access Forum.
Funding support for local Highland Games
The provision of a piper to welcome the arrival of the Waverley at Helensburgh Pier

Charities supported recently have included RNLI, Cancer Research, Combat Stress, Helensburgh and District Access Forum and CHAS.
