Duncryne hill walk in Loch Lomond

Duncryne Hill is just south of the village of Gartocharn close to the south shores of Loch Lomond. Although just under 500 feet high its summit viewpoint offers one of the most dramatic views that I've seen of the loch and its islands. Tom Weir, that great man of the Scottish outdoor scene lived in Gartocharn in his final years and was a regular visitor to the Duncryne hill viewpoint from where he could see his beloved highland hills in all their splendour. An easy walk for anyone of normal fitness although the last part of the walk would probably be a problem for anyone with mobility problems. Strong foorwear recomended as some parts of the path can be muddy in wet weather. Car park: Best at the small space beside the hill access off the narrow road leading south at the village centre. Car park also available in village. Length of walk: 0.75 mile. Time: Depends how clear the view is at the top!

Address: NS 346859 just off the A811 at Gartocharn
Location: Gartocharn
