Balmaha, Loch Lomond

Balmaha, situated on Loch Lomond's East shore, until recently would have been considered an unimportant village on a road to nowhere.

There is a large car park centrally situated with a visitor Centre and tourist information facilities and as you would imagine views of the Loch from Conic Hill are stunning. As with all the villages surrounding the Loch there are plenty of good quality restaurants and hotels.

Inchcailloch and Inchmurran Islands are a must see for any visitor to Balmaha the ferry runs regularly from the Balmaha jetty and you can arrange a pickup time with the skipper when he drops you at the island pier.

Once on Inchcailloch Island you can explore castle ruins and a graveyard. There is a fine walk around the island and the West shore provides a picnic site with barbecue's for the use of visitors. Northward views from the summit of the island are spectacular.
